It's the beginning of the year and vision board parties are sprouting up through out the city for aspiring business owners and industry professionals. Have you ever heard of a vision board thoughtfully planned out just for tweens and teens? Milwaukee native and Founder of Chicks with Class and Classic Boys Entertainment Center, Margo Baines, believes kids should have the opportunity to get a jump start working towards their dreams and desires professionally. On Saturday, January 12, 2019, the creative social enterprise will host 'Tweens & Teens, Brunch & Goals' from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at their Youth Enrichment center (16430 W Lake Houston Pkwy Suite 400, Houston, TX 77044). Youth will be able to enjoy brunch by sponsor Chef Harmone Gray and pair up with industry professionals to create their very own vision board for the new year.
What makes this event extra special is 12-year old Kheris Rogers, known for her bold statement against racism with the Flexin' In My Complexion Campaign, will be in the building. Rogers and her sister Taylor Pollard has caught the attention of major celebrities like Alicia Keys and Lupita Nyong'o to help stand with them on building self-esteem within the African-American community and beyond. If there is anyone who can speak into their lives in a special way, it has to be Kheris. Kids building kids, there's got to be hope for our future through unity, don't you agree?
Baines is a Veteran of the United States Army and Alumna of Texas South University. When she first started the empowerment program, her initiative was focused primarily on young girls. Now, Baines has expanded Youth Enrichments to providing social skills, after school programs and so much more to young boys as well. The organization hosts youth conferences where they invite influential persons to spark motivation centered around character skills and much more. Increasing self-esteem and confidence is something Baines holds special to her heart. She hopes to continue expanding the program into different parts of Texas, the United States and even internationally.
