SSLW & Partners Announce 2019 Scholarship Recipients News Release With Photos

SUGAR LAND: Suburban Sugar Land Women (SSLW) and their Phenomenal Partners Celebrate “30 for 30” Honoring Fort Bend Countywide School Districts 2019 High School Scholarship Recipients - Heroes and Sheroes at “ sold out” luncheon , Saturday, April 27, 11am. The goal is to raise $30,000+ for 30 years of providing cheerful, willing, and generous services and resources from infancy thru adulthood. All proceeds benefit programs and scholarships. Donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS’ guidelines. Receipt of donation mailed within thirty days. Your tax – deductible donations are appreciated.
Clyde Allen, Jr., Lamar CISD – Fulshear High School, plans to East Texas Baptist University – engineering,major.
Calah Alexis Burros, Fort Bend ISD – Austin High School, plans to attend Prairie View A & M University – nursing, major.
Jaela Ailene Ketchum, Needville ISD – Needville High, plans to attend Houston Baptist University – pre medical, major
Jason Alexander Mc Donald, Lamar CISD - Fulshear High, plans to attend Prairie View A & M Univ -business marketing
Myah Elizabeth Williams, Fort Bend ISD – Dulles High School plans to attend Howard University - biology, major.
First – time annual and competitive scholarships are awarded in March and continuing scholarships in July based on community service, academic excellence, and leadership. Annual service with SSLW is a scholarship’s requirement.
First time applicants apply January 01-March 01 only; continuing recipients apply June 01 – July 15 only.
Recipients / parents/guardians are encouraged to email or call questions and concerns.

Celebration’s Order: 10:30am-11am,review scholarship process with recipients & parents; 11:00-11:30am,Sax Man provides prelude of jazz melodies; Dr. Sharon Quinn is mistress of ceremony; Mose Austin provides opening prayer. Occasion by Judeene Edison. Recognition of title sponsor, partners, donors, and board members by Mable Scott Austin. Lunch to be served 11:45am-12:45pm. Menu: green salad; blackened chicken breasts; broccoli; roasted potatoes; hot rolls, coffee & tea; mini desserts; menu may change. Dr. Alma Alan is guest speaker. Forche Bridges, 2018 recipient , shares high school to college successful transition strategies. Marvelyn Harris, scholarship chair presents scholarship awards. Closing remarks by Mable & Mose Austin.
All recipients must submit annually three official documents with a U.S. Mailed postmark on or before July 15:
- university acceptance letter; 2. university class schedule, etc; and 3.SSLW, typed, accurate, and complete bursar’s form signed by students/parents/guardians. Failure to complete this process forfeits the scholarship for this year only. Recipients may apply for continuing scholarship annually. Read carefully and follow instructions.
