World Children’s Day is an annual global moment ‘for children, by children’ — to advocate and raise funds and awareness on the most pressing issues facing children. The world will come together on November 20 to help build a world where every child is in school, safe from harm and can fulfill their potential.

Houston is joining this movement by enlisting Mayor Sylvester Turner to officially launch World Children’s Day with a press conference at City Hall. Mayor Turner will highlight how Houston is working to secure the rights of children across the city, making it child friendly.

Following the press conference, UNICEF Kid Power and Houston Dynamo soccer star Mike Chabala will host a soccer clinic at Hermann Square, encouraging attendees to share their #GoalsForChildren. At dusk, Houston will turn the skyline blue in celebration of this global moment for children. The Houston community can take part on social media and show spirit by wearing blue and tagging #WorldChildrensDay and @UNICEFUSA.
