Mimosamania Hits the Spot In Houston

“Blame the Mimosas.”
It’s the mantra that Mimosamania lives by, as the event has evolved from a concept into an entire experience. For Houstonians, “Sunday Funday” is often an experience in itself, complete with a list of options for those ready to reset and unwind.
Looking to capture and elevate that magic, it all started with an idea after Mimosamania founder - known simply as Lo - decided to create an app that would allow users to discover the best brunch spots in their city or while traveling.
“Mimosamania was orignally birthed from a plan to promote a brunch finder app that I wanted to develop back in 2015/2016. The app obviously never came to fruition, but the concept of Mimosamania stuck forever. Especially once I created the logo,” Lo explained
As the saying goes, “Build it and they will come.” Something Lo and event partner Ev, witnessed firsthand as Mimosamania gained momentum before taking on a life of its own - eventually transforming into an annual event known for bringing out crowds in Houston.
This year the event returned with a vengeance during Labor Day weekend, as a crowd packed into the popular Chapman & Kirby for a day full of custom-crafted mimosas, a specialty menu, outdoor games and more. Despite its large size, the event has somehow managed to maintain the nostalgia of a house party vibe, an allure that keeps people coming back for more.
“On the most basic level, I would like to see MM go beyond Houston, and if possible, beyond the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. More importantly, because our sell is the drinks, I would also like to see MM grow to be a brand that underdogs or up and coming liquor brands use to contribute to our evolving menus.”
