The Bay Area Houston Alumnae Chapter (BAHA) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recently donated $1,000 to Sarah's House to further the organization's mission to provide safe harbor to women and children who are in immediate need of food, clothing, shelter, safety, and stability.

“A huge thank you to BAHA for its donation,” said Brittany Garza, Executive Director, Sarah’s House. “These funds will help us provide emergency shelter, food, and basic necessities for over three weeks at our facility. We are so grateful for the sorority being such a blessing to Sarah’s House during these times."

BAHA, which this year marks 15 years of service to the Pasadena community, applauds Sarah's House’s dedication to women and children who are experiencing some of life's many challenges including homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment, and natural disasters.

“The sorority counts Sarah's House as a vital partner in our charge to serve Pasadena and surrounding communities,” said Shantel Williams, BAHA president. “Their mission aligns very well with the purpose and goals of our sorority and chapter.”

Since 2001, Sarah's House has been a positive and stabilizing voice for some of society's most vulnerable people. By providing women and children with emergency housing, education, and counseling, Sarah's House helps to reduce homelessness and to build a better quality of life for the community.

Delta Sigma Theta, an international public service sorority with more than 150,000 members, was founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C.

The BAHA chapter, one of six in the greater Houston metropolitan area, was chartered in 2005 and boasts a membership of over 170 college-educated women who share a common bond of sisterhood, scholarship and service. The chapter is anchored in the Greater Southeast Houston area proudly serving the communities of Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pasadena, Pearland, Seabrook, and Webster.
