A short while ago, Former Vice President and Democratic Candidate for President, Joe Biden announced his running mate for the upcoming presidential election. In doing so, Biden chose the 1st African American female candidate for Vice President of the United States of America and at the same time, the first Historically Black College/University (HBCU) Graduate as the Vice-Presidential candidate.

The Houston Branch of the NAACP is not surprised by the selection of Senator Harris because we know that she has the experience, the background, and the people skills to do the job. While we do not support a political party, the NAACP recognizes the overwhelming significance of this moment and what it means for this nation. We must remember that at this time Senator Harris is vice presidential nominee or candidate for the position and we must remain steadfast in our pursuit of full participation in democracy for Black people. So, let us turn out to vote in November.
