Texas Democrats Will Be Highlighted as Keynote Speakers on Day Two of the Democratic National Convention
Congressman Colin Allred and State Representative Victoria Neave to Share Their Vision For Texas and America.

Tonight, day two of the Democratic National Convention State Representative Victoria Neave and Congressman Colin Allred will take the main stage at the convention to share the Democratic vision for the state and the country.
Both Neave and Allred have been named by the DNC as “Rising Stars” within the party.
Victoria Neave
Victoria Neave, in 2019 was named as one of the “Best Legislators” by Texas Monthly magazine and “Legislator of the Year” by the State Bar of Texas.
She is also the author of the historic Lavina Masters Act, comprehensive legislation which the backlog of thousands of untested rape kits which went unaddressed for decades under Republican’s watch.
Colin Allred
Colin Allred was part of the Democratic wave that took back long standing Republican held congressional seats in Texas in 2018. He defeated his Republican opponent Pete Sessions during the midterm elections that year.
Prior to his congressional win, Allred worked for another Texan, former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro during President Barack Obama’s second term in office.
This marks the second time the past eight years that Texans have been keynote speakers in the Democratic Convention, following Julián Castro in 2012.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

Both Allred and Neave have a set of accomplishments that are only going to grow as they continue leading in their communities and across our state.
