Fort Bend County Judge KP George and members of Commissioners Court presented three proclamations during the February 2020 Commissioners Court meeting.
1) American Heart Month- February has been designated American Heart Month since 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson made the observance official with Proclamation 3566, signed Dec. 30, 1963, according to the American Heart Association. Since that time (when half of U.S. adult deaths were due to cardiovascular disease), advocates have launched efforts to educate the public on how heart disease can be identified and prevented.
2) National African American History Month- National African American History Month in February celebrates the contributions that African Americans have made to American history in their struggles for freedom and equality and deepens our understanding of our Nation's history.
