Temporary distribution site (TDS) at Sequoia Medical Practice in Houston, Texas, allows in-person pickup of cannabis medication

Compassionate Cultivation, the leading medical cannabis company in Texas, announces the reopening of their Houston-based temporary distribution site (TDS), where every week, patients in the Houston area can pick up their medication in person. Compassionate Cultivation’s TDS, located at Sequoia Medical Practice (11980 Kirby Drive, Suite 102, Houston, Texas 77045), is open every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A member of the Compassionate Cultivation team staffs a counter at the medical office to allow people with medical cannabis prescriptions to come pick up their medication. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Compassionate Cultivation also maintains home delivery to patients who may not be able to pick up their prescription. Amidst the COVID-19 crisis, Compassionate Cultivation has been deemed an essential business and has maintained all business operations throughout the pandemic. With the increased danger of contracting COVID-19, especially to those with existing medical conditions, the rise of patients under quarantine has equated to a rise in home delivery requests. Accommodating more home deliveries while maintaining a fast turnaround to get medicine into patients’ hands is a tall order - and one that temporary distribution sites are helping to solve.

“Having physicians allow use of their space once a week gives patients who are able to leave their homes a way to safely pick up their medicine,” said Kelly Roland, Chief Revenue Officer of Compassionate Cultivation. “This also helps offset the rise in home deliveries, allowing us to accommodate more patients each week.”

“In the beginning my medicine was delivered from Compassionate Cultivation to my front door,” said Beverly Baker, patient. “I had to make an appointment to receive the delivery, which also required my signature. Now I am able to pick up my prescription on a designated day at Sequoia Medical. No appointment is needed and it only takes a few minutes. Much more convenient!”

As businesses begin to open and more people resume work, the opening of temporary dispensing locations becomes even more important.

“No one likes waiting around the house,” said Morris Denton, CEO of Compassionate Cultivation. “While we do our best to get to each patient on a timely basis, sometimes it can be unpredictable when you factor in road construction or other issues. We started offering pick ups at our TDS locations to make it more convenient for patients and families - they know when we’ll be there, they know the time they can come pick up, and they don’t have to sit around at their house like they’re waiting on the cable guy.”

“This opportunity has made it very convenient for our Houston based patients as they do not have to wait longer to obtain their medical marijuana and can get it much sooner at our clinic at Sequoia Medical Practice,” said Dr. Rohan Patankar, Sequoia Medical Practice. “We are very happy with our partnership with Compassionate Cultivation and hope to provide the best medical support for the patients for whom we are caring.”

Since its inception, the Austin-based company’s vertically integrated business has been providing high quality medical cannabis products to patients across the Lone Star State, with their production licensed through Texas’ Compassionate Use Program. This program allows for the production and dispensing of low-THC cannabis for medical use after being prescribed by qualified physicians to patients with specific medical conditions. Qualifying conditions for the medicine can be found here. To learn more about how to become part of the Compassionate Use Program, please visit here.
