Dear HISD Community:

The curbside summer meals site at Chavez High School is temporarily closed for cleaning and sanitization due to a possible case of the COVID-19 virus.

The new site had been scheduled to begin serving curbside summer meals for students and boxed produce for families on Monday. It is now closed until further notice.

Impacted employees have been notified and instructed to self-quarantine in accordance with public health guidelines.

The site is the latest in a handful of recent closures. Bastian is slated to re-open on Monday, June 22. Nathaniel Q. Henderson Elementary School remains closed while facility issues are resolved.

During temporary closures, families in need are encouraged to visit one of the district’s other curbside summer meals sites. A updated list of open and closed sites is available at HoustonISD.org/SummerMeals. Families are encouraged to check this website before going to a distribution site to confirm that it is open.

Sincerely,

Grenita F. Lathan, Ph.D.
