Relief Telemed, Neighborhood Health, and Fred’s in Tigerland team up to offer COVID-19 screening for Baton Rouge-area college students and Tigerland staff

Style Magazine Newswire | 6/23/2020, 9:56 a.m.

Relief Telemed, a virtual care platform, announced today that it is teaming up with Neighborhood Health and Fred’s in Tigerland to offer COVID-19 screening to all college students and staff members who work in Tigerland establishments. The testing will only screen for active infections only. “With an increasing number of younger adults testing positive for the virus, we wanted to bring together partners who could offer large scale testing to as many college-aged students as possible.”, says Vishal Vasanji, Co-founder and CEO of Relief Telemed.

Testing will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 9:00am to 5:00pm in the parking lot of Fred’s in Tigerland at 1184 Bob Pettit Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70820. The screening will be open to all college students; however, students must bring a valid college ID and be 18 years and older. With limited space and time, the group is requiring that all those interested in being screened pre-register at http://relieftelemed.com/tigerland. The link will take the user to the Relief Telemed mobile app and connect them with a virtual provider for a quick 2 to 3-minute screening prior to being tested onsite.

Fred’s in Tigerland will provide all logistical support, Neighborhood Health will provide onsite healthcare providers, and Relief Telemed will provide onsite nursing staff and the technology to operate a testing facility. According to Vasanji, “Through our Relief Telemed platform, we have become the leading provider of onsite COVID testing solutions to employers and schools. Tigerland is an integral piece of the college community in Baton Rouge, and we wanted to do something to keep that community safe.”

Students must have a valid college ID and be 18 years or older to be eligible to be screened.

Here is how it works:

Pre-registration: Register a visit with a virtual provider at http://relieftelemed.com/tigerland. No walk-up screening will be allowed. All those interested in being screened must speak with a virtual doctor first.

Proof of Identity: On Thursday between 9:00am and 5:00pm, students will need to bring a valid government-issued ID, a health insurance card, and a valid college ID. If a student does not have insurance, testing can be provided at no cost.

Stay in your car: Upon arrival please stay in your car and follow the posted instructions at the site. While in the vehicle, a nasal swab test will be administered.

Results: COVID-19 test results will be available within 2-4 days. Results will be emailed to the student.
