During this unprecedented time, non-profits are experiencing a loss of funding and donations, and have had to cancel fundraising events. Thousands of Houstonians rely on these organizations for food, shelter and day to day living essentials. Meanwhile, for 2 months, families across the country have been at home finding new projects, new hobbies, and priceless time to simplify, clean and get rid of unwanted items. So Original Texan Chester Pitts and wife LaToya Pitts are teaming their organization, Carson Parke, with DJ Big Reeks who supports the Mission of Yahweh. Together they are Spring Cleaning for a Cause and asking Houstonians to join in.

The Mission of Yahweh and Carson Parke are asking Houstonians to donate newly worn clothes, furniture and bottled water on Tuesday, May 19th. Photos of all donations must be emailed to info@boommediaandimage.com by Sunday, May 17th for screening.

Celebrity DJ, DJ Big Reeks (Rican McGusty) and his business partner have been volunteering with the Mission of Yahweh since Valentine's Day 2020 after donating ten dozen roses to the women living in the mission. "It has been a joy to work with the mission. I have been able to see exactly where my money and donations are going. Spring Cleaning for a Cause was created to allow everyone to be involved. With so many people losing jobs, this event allows you to still feel like you are helping others in a time of need," McGusty said.

"It's been a joy to work with Rican. The Mission is one of the few organizations in the City of Houston sustained by personal donations and receivesno assistance from the government; so the pandemic has made it extremely hard to serve our women. Spring Cleaning for a Cause will allow us to still serve in a big way," said Melissa Mejia, Mission of Yahweh Donors Relations Manager. Currently TheMission of Yahweh is housing a total of 73women and girls. Due to COVID-19, no one is allowed in or out for the safety of all. Currently, Melissa adds, the biggest need is bottled water and toiletries, but when the doors open, furniture and clothing becomes a priority again to help the women get back on their feet.

Since 2008, Original Texan Chester Pitts and wife LaToya Pitts have been taking care of families in the Houston community through The Chester Pitts Charitable Foundation. After Chester's retirement from the NFL, the two wanted to expand their impact and Carson Parke was born in 2018. The residential facility currently has 90 beds serving young ladies ages 12 and 17 and a full-time staff of 25 professionals. "My wife and I want to help these girls become their best selves. We believe Carson Parke is our home and we have opened our doors to spread the love that most of them have never received," Chester Pitts said. "To whom much is given, much is required. It's a blessing to be in our position and to serve these deserving young women. We are excited to join forces with Melissa and The Mission of Yahweh, because they truly understand the need, as well as the time and resources it takes to serve," LaToya Pitts said. The Mission of Yahweh and Carson Parke joined forces after recognizing similar needs and that together they could make a bigger impact.

Since visitors are not allowed at the facilities for the protection of the residents, Mr. Big's World Class Movers is donating their services to pick up all donations for the two organizations.
