Coronavirus is still raging on in Texas.
Texas now has the second most amount of cases and deaths in the country. We now have more cases than New York, more deaths than California, and the highest number of new cases the past 72 hours in the country.
On top of this, Texas Republicans remain in court to repeal the Affordable Care Act in the middle of a pandemic. If they are successful, millions of Texans will lose healthcare coverage as the coronavirus crisis continues to rage in our state. This lawsuit is being led by indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who top aides allege took bribes and conducted other abuses of office in a bombshell letter exposed this weekend.
The coronavirus is not over in Texas. Mismanagement of the coronavirus crisis at both the federal and state levels continues to put us all at-risk.
Texas Democratic Party Communications Director Abhi Rahman issued the following statement:
“The coronavirus is not over and Texas Republicans remain in court to take away affordable care from millions of Texans that need it the most. Cases are beginning to climb. We now have the second most cases, second most deaths, and the most new cases in the country the past 72 hours. This is unacceptable. This is the direct result of failed Republican leadership at the federal and state levels.
“In the midst of the biggest health crisis in American history, Republicans remain in court following the lead of indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is attempting to repeal Affordable Care for millions of Texans without a plan for a replacement. This shows you exactly who they are. Donald Trump contracted the coronavirus and has the best healthcare in the world to get him through it. Everyday Texans aren’t as lucky. If Texas Republicans have their way, Texans will be out of options.
“It’s time to end this coronavirus crisis and protect and preserve the Affordable Care Act for generations to come. It’s time to elect Democrats like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris up and down the ballot in November.”
