HISD Statement: Presumed positive COVID-19 cases at Houston Independent School District Facilities

The following HISD locations had reports of presumed positive COVID-19 cases this week:
Burnet Elementary School
Hilliard Elementary School
Osborne Elementary School
Patterson Elementary School
Petersen Elementary School
Rucker Elementary School
Stevens Elementary School
Navarro Middle School
Chavez High School
Heights High School
Sterling Aviation Early College High School
Westbury High School
Construction Services Support Facility
Most of these facilities have reopened. Individuals who may have been exposed are notified by the district and are recommended to self-quarantine for 14 days and get tested for COVID-19 if they begin to exhibit symptoms.
Out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that any individual who may have been exposed get tested for COVID-19 if they begin to exhibit symptoms. Per the HISD Communicable Disease Plan, each location is sanitized and deep cleaned.
We are taking this situation seriously and continue to work closely with the Houston Health Department to identify any student or staff member who should be tested for COVID-19.
