HOUSTON, TEXAS — For one week in July—July 24 through July 31, 2021—Houston-area restaurants are donating a portion of their proceeds to AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. (AFH) through their participation in the annual nationwide event, Dining Out for Life.

Guests can support AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. by enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner throughout the week at one of 16 (and counting) participating restaurants. A portion of the proceeds supports AFH’s stabilizing programs that help thousands of Houstonians affected by HIV, and prevention services that reduce new HIV transmissions. Supporters can also make an individual contribution through the organization’s online fundraiser.

“We know how much our local restaurants were impacted by COVID-19, and so we are especially grateful that they are partnering with us this year in support of our mission to end the HIV epidemic,” said John Huckaby, CEO of AIDS Foundation Houston. “Dining Out for Life” is an opportunity to support your local participating restaurants while sustaining the programs and services that AFH provides in our community.”

In 1991, an ActionAIDS volunteer in Philadelphia created Dining Out for Life. Today, the event is produced in 60 cities throughout the United States and Canada, with more than 3,000 restaurants donating a portion of their proceeds from their designated day of dining. AIDS Foundation Houston has participated in the event since the inaugural year, raising thousands of dollars for local HIV/AIDS services.
