HOUSTON, TX– July 21, 2021: Houston Random Acts of Kindness Day (RAK Day) Founders, Treveia and David Dennis, will be providing meals, hot showers, basic necessities and live entertainment from Kiland Kyham for more than 200 transient, homeless and less fortunate Houstonians on Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 3pm-6pm at Impact Houston Church of Christ (1704 Weber St.) in honor of Houston’s Annual RAK Day!

The Dennis’ are also encouraging the Houston community to pay it forward this Sunday by performing simple random acts of kindness and charity for others on RAK Day.

Established in 2014, the first Houston Random Acts of Kindness Day was an official gathering of charities, organizations, philanthropists and volunteers giving back to their communities. RAK Day was made an official proclaimed day on July 25, 2014, by Former Houston Mayor Annise Parker and again in 2019 by current Mayor Sylvester Turner.

Treveia and David Dennis launched the annual RAK Day effort as a way to repay the kindness shown to them by total strangers following the tragic loss of family members. The Houston couple has been promoting empathy and compassion with selfless acts of charity throughout the community ever since.

“Even the smallest act of kindness can change a life,” said Treveia Dennis, Co-Founder of RAK Day. “Each year, July 25th brings an opportunity for the community to come together and look beyond our differences to share kindness, happiness and compassion with one another. Giving, receiving, or witnessing an act of kindness can have a positive impact on the entire community and we hope individuals and groups will join us in performing random acts of kindness throughout the city this Sunday.”

RAK Day is part of a weekend celebration created by the Dennis’ to promote empathy, kindness and recognition of those whose mission and passion are to serve in their communities by helping others. The day follows the Annual Houston Humanitarian Awards, which will be held on July 24, 2021, at the Royal Sonesta Houston. The black-tie gala honors ten Houstonians that exemplify kindness and make Houston a better place to live and recognizes additional humanitarians for special achievements and meaningful contributions to societal issues and people in need.

The Dennis’ are encouraging Houstonians to participate in RAK Day with any simple act of kindness like thanking a frontline worker, writing a positive review for a local business, surprising someone by randomly buying a meal or a coffee for them, donating blood, checking on a senior, volunteering, or any low or no-cost act that can spread positivity and make someone’s day!

The Dennis’ are still in need of donations of the following new items for Sunday’s RAK Day event at Impact Church of Christ: Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Soap, Deodorant, Men’s Underwear, Women’s Underwear, Hairbrushes, Combs, Sneakers, T-shirts, Shaving Cream, Disposable razors and Women’s feminine products.
