“Message of Care & Concern”
Dear HBCU Stakeholders,
Due to the recent violence that has taken place on the campus of one of our Beloved HBCUs, Houston HBCU Alumni Association HHBCUAA is issuing the following message:
Our sincere prayers are being extended to the families of the victims as we go through this most difficult time together.
We are calling for all leaders to meet, brainstorm, and share measures with your Alma Mater or HBCU Leadership to ensure the safety of our students.
Work collectively with your University President, Staff, Student Leaders, National Alumni Associations, Alumni Chapters, and other Stakeholders to ensure safety measures are in place as it relates to the following just to list a few:
• Continuous Presence of Law Enforcement at ALL Special Events (Mounted, Foot, Patrol, etc.)
• Cameras in ALL areas of gatherings.
• Stiff Punishments (Fines, Penalties, and Jail Time).
• Fee to Be on Campus (Pay to Park anywhere on Campus)
• Fence and Credentialing for ALL Outside Events.
• Form Partnerships to Offer Awareness & Reeducation as it relates to Consequences of Violence on Campus.
Again, let’s work collectively to ensure the safety of our students.
In the True Spirit of our HBCUs,
Dr. Veronica Johnson Williams
