San Antonio is home to the largest Día de los Muertos celebration in the United States, and from October 23 – November 2, San Antonio will commemorate the holiday with a line-up of special events, showcasing the city’s rich Latin heritage and culture. On Friday, October 29, guests of Thompson San Antonio will have a perfect view of the Day of the Dead River Parade on the San Antonio River Walk featuring 20 decorated river barges. In addition, travelers can visit the San Antonio Botanical Garden for a Foodie Cinema featuring Disney’s Coco or experience the last days of Frida Kahlo Oasis and Kahlo’s ofrenda and so much more.

Those who want to maximize the long Thanksgiving weekend can enjoy the 40th annual Ford Holiday River Parade from Thompson San Antonio – Riverwalk and book a special dinner at Landrace, the landmark restaurant from James Beard Award finalist Steve McHugh, and viewing experience of the parade. Taking place the day after Thanksgiving on November 26 at 6:00pm, the event will feature illuminated floats and costumed parade participants in a spectacular one-hour parade along the San Antonio River Walk.

Situated at the starting point of the parade, Landrace will offer a reserved seat to the parade along the Riverwalk, a specialty cocktail, and three course festive dinner. The first course will feature Roasted Pumpkin Soup, Beet Salad, and Chayote Squash stuffed with sausage and cornbread. For the second course, choose from Petite Filet Mignon, Grilled Salmon, or Gnocchi Sardi. Lastly, top the meal off with Brown Butter Bread Pudding with Bourbon Anglaise or Chocolate Pot du Creme with Mexican Vanilla Chantilly.
