The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation announced a donation of $100,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, to help rapidly deploy hunger relief efforts to those impacted by Hurricane Ida. The grant will help the food bank provide critical needs in the areas devastated by the storm.
“Access to food is a critical need, and when a neighboring city loses power and water, it’s our duty to step in and help, whether we have stores in that community or not,” said Joe Kelley, President of Kroger. “We hope this donation will help provide much needed food and supplies for families in need.”
In addition to the $100,000 grant, Kroger is donating trailers of water to the City of New Orleans and is supporting dislocated evacuees currently in Houston through the Office for People with Disabilities. They are also partnering with the City of Houston and Gallery Furniture to collect donations that will be transported to New Orleans later this week, led by Mattress Mack’s flood vehicle.
