New York-based painter Cindy Shaoul is quickly becoming the cool celebrities’ collectable - with fans such as Emma Roberts, Catherine Deneuve, and John Malkovich. Ashley Park just gifted her bestie (and Emily in Paris co-star) Lily Collins Shaoul’s romantic custom painting “Lily and Charlie in Paris” as a wedding gift.

From September 23-26, Shaoul will be exhibiting many new paintings at NYC’s Affordable Art Fair (Stand E8).

Shaoul’s style fuses old and new through her impressionist and abstract painting methods and adds a touch of haute couture and street art on the side. She has been profiled in Vanity Fair and Luxe, among other prestigious media outlets.

Shaoul is best recognized for her series “Brides,” “Dripping Dots” and “Hearts,” as well as her plein-air street scenes of quintessential New York locations. Shaoul’s paintings burst from the canvas and give us exactly what we need at this specific moment in time: elegant dream-like colorful escapism with gravitas.

Brides

Shaoul’s gorgeous “Brides” series was inspired by haute couture, the classic beauty from the days of Audrey Hepburn, and the elegance of Degas Ballerinas.

Shaoul explained, “I wanted to create a collection that would emit elegance and the purity of the feminine form. I want her beauty to be uncovered through abstract expressionism while fusing impressionistic techniques as well. With this series, I aim to create exotic forms with expressive and highly textural brushstrokes that are full of intense color, loosely inspired by artists of the French Impressionist movement such as Renoir, Degas, and Mary Cassatt.”

She added, “I want the Bride to have a dazzling explosion of variable life to symbolize the future that lies ahead for her. The surprise of the rhythm is what excites me while creating these pieces, and I aspire to bridge what I’ve learned in school with my passion for exuberant abstraction and depth of color into the essence of her figure and spirit.”

Dripping Dots

Shaoul’s “Dripping Dots” cascade down the canvas with colorful style and grace. The chunky dots are filled with life and set the viewer on a path to the dreamy locations they’re named after.

Shaoul explained, “I am inspired by travel, people and the emotions we feel while we are away. I want to bring back those feelings into a piece and have the colors take you on a journey. When the painting is completed, I name the work after a destination which evokes a certain mood and nostalgia. From Monaco to Barcelona and the South of France, each painting's unique voice vibrates with color, emotion and transcendental energy which brings us to these exotic places instantly.”
