The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, invites Houstonians to celebrate at the Museum: celebrate your families; celebrate your communities; celebrate creativity, wellness, passion, and fashion; celebrate opening day in Houston of the official tour of the portraits of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, by artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald (April 3–May 30, 2022). Put on your “Sunday Best” and join us for a fun, free, enriching afternoon festival at the Museum.

 Explore The Plant Project, a space for community, plants, and self-care and learn about how to install the right plants in the right place for your space.

 Visit with artist Irene Antonia Diane Reece, and hear how she uses family archives as a form of joy and resistance.

 Check out Kindred Stories, a bookstore in Third Ward with a mission to create a community centered space committed to celebrating the works of Black authors and artisans.

 Meet Houston artist Marc Newsome, aka Marc Furi, and learn about his ‘I Love 3rd Ward’ project.

 Visit the MFAH Family Zone and meet educators and guides with books, activities and more designed for

younger learners.

Decorate your own commemorative “Sunday Best” fan with Houston artist and MFAH educator Melissa Aytenfisu.

 Take a selfie in front of dynamic floral backdrops made by botanical experts at the Bree Blooms Workshop.

 Have your portrait taken by Jack Yates high school students whose work is on view in Eye on Houston: High

School Documentary Photography.

 Embellish and adorn your Sunday Best with wearable art you design with the help of MFAH educators.
