In celebration of National Health Center Week, Bee Busy Wellness Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center with locations serving Greater Houston’s Southwest and Southeast Communities, will host its 7th Annual Hygiene for Hope, Free BackPack Giveaway and Community Health Fair for school aged youth on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 8785 West Bellfort Ave, Houston, TX 77031 and 1300 Bay Area Blvd, STE 200, Houston, TX 77058.

BBWC is a community health center devoted to meeting the needs of our communities. The Mission of the Bee Busy Wellness Center is to establish a medical home for all; free from stigma and discrimination and without regard to ability to pay.

“As the City of Houston and surrounding areas rebuilds from the coronavirus pandemic, and now we find ourselves right back in the frying pan with MonkeyPox, it is very important that the help families are seeking doesn’t go unnoticed. As families struggle to put food on their tables with the increase in gas prices and food prices, we wanted to ease the burden of some of their school shopping by providing backpacks with school supplies, hygiene items and some health screenings. A lot of people are struggling and every little bit helps” said Norman Mitchell, CEO of Bee Busy Wellness Center.

“I love this. It’s what we do. We do care for our community and this is just one of the ways we try to show it”, said Debrisha Johnson, Chief Medical Officer of Bee Busy Wellness Center. She continues, “This work is purposeful. This isn’t just a job, it’s my purpose. Whether it’s providing primary medical care or handing out a backpack. I feel this work makes a difference.”

Back to School often presents challenges and this year, the challenges are even greater.
