The Houston Independent School District Police Department, Houston Police Department, and Ministers against Crime will kick off Project Safe Start, a partnership to prevent crime and provide additional security for students and teachers as they begin the 2022-2023 school year. Through the partnership, security is increased on and around school campuses during the first days of the educational calendar to ensure schools and their surrounding areas remain safe.

Deputy Superintendent Richard Cruz, HISD Chief of Police Pedro Lopez, Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Ban Tien, and community ministers will meet on Wednesday, August 17 at 10 a.m. at the HISD Police Department.
