The Edison Arts Foundation in partnership with Performing Arts Houston is excited to welcome the legendary and world renown Dance Theatre of Harlem, along with their Artistic Director, Ms. Virginia Johnson to Missouri City on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Dance Theatre of Harlem is an American professional ballet company based in Harlem, New York. Founded in 1969 under the directorship of Arthur Mitchell. DTH is the first Black classical ballet company and the first major ballet company to prioritize Black dancers. Ms. Virginia Johnson is a founding member and former principal dance of the company.

Edison Arts Foundation and Performing Arts Houston will be offering two FREE educational dance masterclass workshops to the Missouri City dance community along with a photo opportunity to meet and greet with the legendary Virginia Johnson.

1st Workshop/Masterclass: Wednesday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. – Willowridge High School – 16301 Chimney Rock Road (77053)

2nd Workshop/Masterclass: Wednesday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. – Fort Bend Academy of Arts and Dance – 1959 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, TX (77489)

The Edison Arts Foundation, a black-led 501(c)3 non-profit fine arts organization, has provided arts and cultural programming and afterschool academic enrichment

for Fort Bend Houston’s families since 2013. Recognizing the overwhelming need to revitalize the entire community, EAF expanded its mission for large-scale impact. With

a civically engaged Board and strong community support. The Edison Cultural Arts Center project was launched in 2016 to create innovative solutions for a thriving

community with arts as its catalyst. Now in Phase II, the project is a model for revitalization without gentrification.
