Macy’s and Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area celebrated 20-year-old Vivek and his wish to be a fashion designer with a special in-store experience at Macy’s Oakridge to reveal his three-piece line for Sun + Stone as part of its partnership campaign benefiting Make-A-Wish.
Vivek, a college sophomore who was diagnosed with leukemia, collaborated with Macy’s Fashion Office this past Spring to design three items for Sun + Stone, available exclusively at Macy’s. The clothing is now available at select Macy’s stores—including Macy’s Memorial City in Houston—and online at macys.com and on the Macy’s mobile app. Macy’s will donate 50 percent of the purchase price of Vivek’s clothing collection with Sun + Stone to Make-A-Wish, up to $20,000, through December 31. Customers can identify Vivek’s designs in store by a special hangtag on the clothes that features Vivek.
Last December, Macy’s and Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area revealed student’s wish to be a fashion designer was coming true with an in-store celebration. Vivek received sketchbooks and special supplies curated by Macy’s Fashion Office. As part of his wish, he traveled to New York City to bring his designs to life. He met with Macy’s design team virtually throughout the year in preparation for his New York trip in September, when he toured Macy’s Color Room and a local factory.
Macy’s beloved letter-writing campaign, in partnership with Make-A-Wish, gives customers of all ages the opportunity to send letters and deliver wishes. From Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, for every letter sent to Santa that’s dropped off in Macy’s stores nationwide, Macy’s will donate $2 to Make-A-Wish, up to $2 million, to help children fighting critical illnesses’ life-changing wishes come true.
With support from the Macy’s campaign, Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children with critical illnesses, allowing them to replace fear with confidence, anxiety with hope and sadness with joy. Since 2003, Macy’s has donated more than $142 million to Make-A-Wish, helping grant more than 16,200 wishes and impacting more than 3.1 million people, including wish kids and their families, volunteers, community groups, medical professionals and more.
