Gabriela’s Group, one of Austin’s premier restaurant and bar management groups, is excited to announce that the team will soon expand to Houston, Texas. Located at 1910 Bagby Street, Houston TX 77002, Gabriela’s Midtown will open in spring 2022.

The local Latino owners behind one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in Central Texas will soon expand eastward due to years of overwhelming demand from fans. The space opened in early 2018 as a modern Mexican restaurant and cantina that quickly became a popular culinary destination in downtown Austin, before successfully expanding to South Austin with a second location in spring 2021.

Their newest location will look to continue to feature a similar food menu inspired by Michoacán family recipes that emphasize fresh ingredients while avoiding artificial flavorings and enhancers. The new Gabriela’s will also continue to feature the popular bar program that was personally developed by one of the co-owners Gabriela that includes fresh-squeezed juices as well as other natural fruits that she ate growing up as a child in grandmother’s backyard in Mexico such as tamarindo, mangos, and grapefruits.

Gabriela’s new spot marks the latest project this year from the independently and Latin-owned restaurant group. Founded by siblings and Mexico natives Gabriela and Arturo Bucio, Gabriela’s Group is home to some of the most popular restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in Austin. Original keystone projects include Gabriela’s Downtown (900 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702), Taquero Mucho (508 West Ave, Austin, TX 78701), and Mala Vida (708 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701).

In just the past year, the boutique business also opened four other concepts expanding the Group’s presence beyond just downtown Austin. Recent openings include a second South Austin location of their flagship restaurant called Gabriela’s (9600 South IH-35, Unit B-500, Austin, TX 78748), a second music venue located in Far East Austin named Mala Santa (8505 Burleson Road, Austin, TX 78719), a boutique coffee shop in East Austin called Revival Coffee (1405 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702), a Sinaloa-style seafood and sushi concept called Seareinas (6607 N Interstate Hwy 35, Austin, TX 78752), and the second location of their all-pink taqueria Taquero Mucho (11101 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78758).

More details surrounding the new Midtown restaurant and its soft opening plans this spring will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, fans are encouraged to follow along on the restaurant’s new social media channels via @gabrielashouston to stay in the loop on future news and events.

Fans should also stay tuned as the Gabriela’s Group continues its expansion into Houston and far beyond.
