Dear HISD Community:

At HISD, we embrace our diversity and appreciate all that Dr. King stood for and fought for.

Monday is Martin Luther King Day, and all HISD campuses and district offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. There will be no classes for students on Tuesday, Jan. 18, but staff should report to work as offices and campuses will be open. Classes will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

I’m extremely proud of all the HISD students that took part in the 26th annual MLK Oratory competition finals. Hearing these young scholars speak to the vision of Dr. King was very inspiring and is a testament that his dream lives on today.

Let’s continue to honor the legacy of Dr. King every day in HISD!
