Wellness Bar by Legacy, located at 120 Westheimer Road in Montrose, is now offering Trogarzo, an infusion medication for the treatment of HIV. Trogarzo may help to treat HIV in patients who have grown resistant to other HIV management medications. Wellness Bar is the first Legacy Community Health location to offer Trogarzo in-clinic.

“Wellness Bar has become a one-stop shop for HIV treatment in this way,” says Maggie White, nurse practitioner at Wellness Bar. “Previously, patients seeking Trogarzo had to be referred out to specialists. That’s no longer an issue. We can do it right here at Wellness Bar, something that is pretty rare among outpatient facilities.”

Trogarzo has become an important tool for patients who are long-term survivors of HIV. According to the National Resource Center on HIV and Aging, long-term survivors are defined as those who received their diagnosis before 1996, when effective HIV treatments became available. These patients are more likely to have resistance to HIV medications; with Trogarzo, Wellness Bar by Legacy now offers a treatment option for these patients who might not have had one otherwise.
