It all started in 1973 when Roy Burns Sr. started off his small local business venture selling barbecue to the Acres Home community in Houston, Tx. Today, Burn's Original BBQ (and sister restaurant Burns Burger Shack) are Texas staples that people come from all over the world to taste. Due to the overwhelming love of Burns Original BBQ, people have demanded that the BBQ hotspot cater their events, big and small, and they have for years. The Burns family is committed to helping their community as they provide scholarships, free food, and host community events yearly.

Burns Original BBQ is giving away a total of $10,000 in scholarship money to local Houston recent high school students. This Saturday, June 11th, the famous local BBQ staple is having a lunch celebration for the scholarship winners to commemorate their accomplishments. The Burns Original BBQ family has made a commitment to give out scholarships to students for the past 5 years. With over 90+ applications, the team carefully selected students who fit the qualifications to receive $1,000 scholarships and a gift bag with sponsored items. This year's scholarship winners are gearing up to attend schools this Fall such as Southern University, Lamar University, Louisiana State University, Texas Southern University, and Baylor College.
