Lester Marks, President of International Art Advisory Services and a represented artist has collected contemporary art for 25 years. He has served as a trustee for the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston and the Houston Contemporary Arts Museum. Mr. Marks has also served on the boards of Diverse Works, Project Row House, Lawndale Art Center, Community Artists Collective, Art League of Houston, The Orange Show, and numerous other visual art organizations.

Lester has been included in Art News as one of the top 200 collectors globally and Art & Antiques as one of the top 100 collectors making a difference in the art world. He was also featured in “American Art Collector” for their 100th-anniversary issue.

For over 25 years, Mr. Marks has mentored local artists and shared his home collection, bringing thou- sands of art patrons every year. The home of Lester Marks is a “mini-museum” of contemporary art. The house is built around an outdoor courtyard displaying the sculpture of British environmental artist Richard Long. There are passageways to 3 small gallery spaces, a studio, and even a “subterranean playroom” for the adventurous.

The collection features museum quality works by artists like Jean-Michell Basquiat, Louise Bour geois, Joseph Cornell, Francesco Clemente, Christo, John Baldessari, John McCraken, Carl Andre, and Anselm.

Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for visual art practitioners and interested mem- bers of the public. Founded in Houston, TX, in 1981, VAA is an all-volunteer run, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

In addition to educational and recreational programs, VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the public. General public.
