PVAMU ranks No. 4 in Texas for best value universities, No.1 HBCU

Prairie View A&M University ranks as the No. 1 “best value” Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Texas, according to SmartAsset’s latest analysis.
PVAMU also ranked No. 4 among Texas universities, with Rice University, The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas at Dallas coming in at No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The University of Houston rounded out the top five in Texas.
According to its website, SmartAsset determined the best value colleges and universities in the U.S. across five categories:
• Tuition
• Student living costs
• Scholarship and grant offerings
• Student retention rate
• Starting salary for new graduates
With a tuition of $10,533 and student living costs of $14,314, according to SmartAsset, the average starting salary for PVAMU graduates is $62,900.
The best value universities on SmartAsset’s list nationwide were Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, Georgia Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
