SmartScaping Landscaping & Design, a premiere Black-owned Houston landscaping maintenance and design company, is giving back this Veterans Day with FREE lawn service for 100 Houston veterans, U.S. Military service members, and military families!

SmartScaping’s new initiative, called “Mows for Military”, is giving veterans and military families a helping hand with free lawn mowing and edging. The family-owned business normally provides landscaping and maintenance to commercial properties only but will be out cutting the residential lawns of 100 local U.S. Military men and women starting on Thursday, November 10, 2022, in honor of Veterans Day, as a way to thank and honor them for their service!

“Veterans don’t always have the ability or resources to manage the upkeep of their yards, and often don’t want to ask for help,” said Bryan Smart, Founder & CEO of SmartScaping Landscaping & Design. “This is a meaningful way for us to use our time and resources to lend a helping hand to veterans, service members, and their families, to let them know we care and appreciate all they have sacrificed for our freedoms.”

Smart, who started helping veterans and seniors with free lawn care five years ago after seeing his aging neighbor struggling to cut his grass, enlisted the help of John “Spike” Garcia, a Retired US Air Force veteran, to coordinate and register participants from all five US Military Service branches for the Mows for Military Veterans Day giveback next week.

SmartScaping will continue to offer Free cuttings to veterans and military families beyond Veterans Day as part of SmartScaping Cares, a charitable program launched by CEO Bryan Smart with former Houston City Council Member Jack Christie, who also volunteered his time to cut grass for veterans and seniors. The program does charitable work throughout Houston, cleaning up blight and debris in communities, providing free lawn and yard maintenance for those in need, and creating Youth Outreach programs that provide employment opportunities and Co-Op paid internships in partnership with HISD schools and local colleges.

To nominate a Houston veteran or military service member who could benefit from free lawn maintenance, email SmartScaping at office@smartscaping.co.
