In 1986 a concerned parent discovered the overwhelming requirements of special needs children and began Houston’s Be An Angel to help. Over 36 years later BAA has served thousands of special needs children throughout the Greater Houston, Fort Worth and Dallas areas, providing specialized programs, services, and equipment.
Many Houston area families caring for special needs children struggle financially to make ends meet and Christmas possess an additional financial challenge. Be An Angel’s Holiday Gift Program began over 34 years ago so that these children can experience the joy of receiving gifts.
Be An Angel’s 2021 Program served 701 teachers in 331 schools. Volunteers shop to fill each child’s individual wish list for more than 5,300 Houston Area low-income special needs children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness who come from limited income homes.
Be An Angel has 9 different programs to help special needs children get accessibility they need to live their fullest life:
Hearing Aids * Personal Equipment * Respite Care * Barrier-Free Playgrounds * International Assistance * Camp Angel * Holiday Gifts * Success Golf * COVID-19 Relief *

ADRIAN was living a sedentary lifestyle and his parents were having significant difficulty moving him around the home. After it was determined he would benefit from daily use of a tricycle to facilitate daily exercise, Be An Angel was able to provide Adrian with the necessary equipment.
KRYSTAL a wheelchair is more than just a piece of equipment. . . it’s a life-changing tool provides independence, hope and opportunities to just be a kid.
ALLISON was able to start Kindergarten with a new set of hearing aids. Her previous hearing aids were five years old, and one was broken. Allison communicates using oral English and her hearing aids have given her access to speech.
NANCY was born with Spina Bifida and other medical conditions. Being completely dependent on her family she relies on a wheelchair for mobility that would allow for neutral spinal alignment. This wheelchair coupled with safety features ensures she can be transported safely and will give her the opportunity to join the family in daily activities.
