Fort Bend County Judge KP George will hold a press conference on Monday, October 10, at 12:00 p.m., at the Historic Fort Bend County Courthouse, 401 Jackson St., Richmond, TX 77469, to announce the County’s new Economic Development Director (EDD) Carlos Guzman.

Guzman has 16-plus years of economic development experience working in local and regional organizations throughout Texas. Having worked for the City of Dallas and The Greater Houston Partnership, Guzman has worked on projects that have resulted in $4.5B in new investment commitments.

Prior to being named EDD for Fort Bend, Mr. Guzman served as the Executive Director of the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation. Under his leadership, Pasadena EDC launched numerous successful initiatives that built on Pasadena’s strengths.

“I am excited to have Carlos Guzman join our County leadership team and look forward to his leadership at the new Economic Development Department.,” said Judge KP George. “Carlos’ experience demonstrates that he has built the relationships and has the knowledge and processes required to be successful in this role.”

As Economic Development Director, Mr. Guzman will oversee the County’s efforts to promote economic development by setting strategic goals for economic growth and prosperity, targeting new industries to increase their footprint, and working with existing industries and regional partners to strengthen the County’s economy.

Carlos holds degrees from Georgetown University (DC) and George Mason University (VA). He holds certifications as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP). He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in Portuguese. Outside of work, Carlos enjoys traveling with his family and reading about international affairs and history.
