Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown today announces its full 2022 holiday program ahead of its most anticipated ticket release of the year today at noon for all dates and screenings from Nov. 2 through Dec. 31 – its final schedule of the year until its new season begins again in early 2023. Starting in November, the venue will be dressed up in a wintery décor, the bar will be serving savory seasonal drinks, and the screen will be filled each night with a host of seasonal and holiday hits to snuggle close and enjoy with friends and family at the 1700 Post Oak Blvd. venue nestled sky-high atop BLVD Place overlooking Uptown.

“We’re really opening up the holiday schedule this year like never before with early mid-day and afternoon matinee screenings for families, great date night films, and a celebration of all the fun and memories that holiday movies bring us,” says Gerry Cottle, owner and founder of Rooftop Cinema Club. “The holiday tradition of going to the movies is back and we have a way to make that experience unforgettable.”

In addition to all the great holiday hits slated for this season like “Home Alone,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “Elf,” “Die Hard,” and more, Rooftop Cinema Club proudly returns its annual community giving initiative benefitting the Houston Food Bank by matching all movie-goer’s donations at the end of December to give the food bank in support of their programs and services across the region. Guests will be invited to add $1 to any of their December ticket purchases to support the initiative.

Included in the holiday program found below are a host of special screening events and celebrations that helped curate this year’s program. They include:

• “Casablanca” 80th Anniversary – "Here's looking at you, Kid!" This year marks the 80th anniversary of Casablanca, one of the most quotable and beloved films of all-time. "You must remember" to come to our special anniversary screening Nov. 6!

• “The Muppet Christmas Carol” 30th Anniversary – "Life is about meetings and partings; that is the way of it." Fueled by the spirit of Jim Henson, the moving and delightful version of Charles Dickens' classic celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Filled with Muppet staples of joy, laughs, tears, and warmth (and a wonderful Michael Caine as Scrooge), this ode to the power of giving has become the adaptation of the infamous Christmas story that all others are judged.

• Scorpio/Sagittarius/Capricorn Season – Rooftop has a new tradition centered around the signs of the Zodiac. We’re celebrating Scorpio Season from Oct. 23 - Nov. 22, Sagittarius season from Nov. 23 - Dec. 21, and Capricorn season from Dec. 22 – Jan. 19 by screening movies made by, or starring, our favorite cinematic Scorpios, Sagittarius’s and Capricorns!

• People’s Choice: DysFUNctional Family – This November as everyone gears up for the holidays, we're giving you the choice of which dysfunctional movie family you'd like to see at the Rooftop! Vote for your favorite flawed, but lovable, gang here! Voting closes Oct. 27 and the winning film will be announced October 28.

• “Home Alone” Double Bill – "I'm eating junk and watching rubbish!" This December we're bringing you two rounds of Kevin McCallister vs. The Wet Bandits with a double bill of the holiday classic Home Alone & it's NYC-set sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year!

• Corny Christmas Classics – Historically, Christmas is the season for giving, but it's also the season where we bask in the guilty pleasure of a new tradition: The Corny Christmas movie. You know what we mean: A romantic comedy peppered with beautiful snowfall, a melodrama that delivers the drama with a capital "D", or even a schmaltzy family classic that generations can share together. Join us as we celebrate this yuletide pastime for a whole weekend, Dec. 10-11.

• National Ugly Sweater Day – For National Ugly Sweater Day, Dec. 16, we're bringing you a double-dose of comedies that celebrate this beloved piece of holiday attire with “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” and “The Night Before.” Pick your film, and then make sure to wear your best ugly sweater to the show because we'll be having a pre-screening contest!

• Elf-A-Thon – For National Christmas Movie Marathon Day, (Dec. 23) we're keeping it simple by screening the already bona fide holiday classic “Elf” all day long! You read that right. Whatever time you need your yuletide dose of Buddy the Elf beginning at 11 a.m. – we've got you covered. As an added bonus, we're encouraging folks to come dressed up as Buddy the Elf and we'll give out prizes to the best dressed Elves.

New this holiday season will be early matinee options for some added holiday family fun every Saturday and Sunday in November and December with four films each day beginning as early as 11 a.m., depending on the day, and an early afternoon screening in addition to our traditional two sunset and late-night screenings.
