Wanted to reach out to let you know that today, BLK, the largest dating and lifestyle app for Black singles, is launching Homecoming Mode, a feature that will allow HBCU students and alumni to connect ahead of their annual homecoming celebrations.

Homecoming at HBCUs an annual highlight for the campus and the community to celebrating Black joy and culture. A highly anticipated event, homecoming allows HBCUs to connect with their communities and to forge relationships between different generations of students and alumni. HBCU homecomings also provide space and time to connect or reconnect with friends, the community, and, more broadly, Black culture.

To help HBCU alumni and students make meaningful connections during Homecoming, BLK is launching a new feature - Homecoming Mode. The homecoming mode feature is designed to allow students to connect and communicate before homecoming festivities take place, which could potentially ease the pressure and anxiety of connecting (or reconnecting) with new people and old friends. To utilize Homecoming Mode, users will add their HBCU sticker to BLK profiles to show their school pride and to indicate their school/alma mater. Users will then be able to match with other users who have also used that same HBCU profile sticker. From there, the goal is for them to make plans to connect in person at their Homecoming events.

The HBCU stickers, which were designed by Black graphic designer Sabine of Dame Design, will showcase traditional HBCU catchphrases and slogans such as “Aggie Pride” (NC A&T) and “Behold That Green and Gold” (Norfolk State University).
