Welcome Ceremony for UHD’s Day of Service followed by volunteer service projects including revitalizing the landscaping and gardens at Northline Park and Durkee and Farias Early Childhood Center elementaries. At Durkee, volunteers will also help clear and organize common areas like the gym and library inside the school.

The Welcome Ceremony is from 8:30 - 9 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. The Service Projects are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both events are happening at the Farias Early Childhood Center, 515 E. Rittenhouse St., 77076.

Official sponsors include UHD’s Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning, GatorServe is a UHD tradition that brings together UHD students, staff, faculty, friends, families, and community partners to complete projects in service to our neighbors. UHD hosts Day of Service twice a year— in remembrance of 9/11 and to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. UHD President Loren J. Blanchard and District H City Councilmember Karla Cisneros will be on hand. Mariachi Los Caimanes to perform the National Anthem
