Style Magazine Newswire | 9/12/2022, 6:06 p.m.
It is time for LGBTQ Houston's premier annual gala! Make plans to attend Friday, October 14, at the Out for Good Gala, benefiting your local LGBTQ center. Linda Morales will be honored with the 2022 LGBTQ Community Vision Award for decades of advocacy and service to Houston's LGBTQ and Latino communities.
Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, inspiring program, and great company, in celebration of National Coming Out Day and the Montrose Center's progress as one of the leading full-service LGBTQ centers in the nation.
Linda Morales has dedicated her life to creating equality and bringing opportunities to women, Latinos, and LGBTQ individuals. She has founded multiple organizations and served on the Board of Directors of several others. When the Texas Human Rights Foundation challenged Texas' sodomy law in 1989, Linda was the lead plaintiff. And to this day, she works to build union capacity and political power to improve workers' lives.
"Political activism must be a state of mind all the time when one lives in a world of discrimination. The day racism, sexism and homophobia end, my work will be completed." - Linda Morales
Proceeds will benefit the Montrose Center. Empowering LGBTQ Houston since 1978, the center is
one of the leading full-service LGBTQ centers in the nation. They are proud to be a safe, affirming place for our community to meet and gather and get the help they need. They support all aspects of the community - youth, seniors, gender services, HIV prevention and support, mental health services & community center.
