theMcNay Museum presents True Believers: Benny Andrews & Deborah Roberts. The exhibit offers a historic and contemporary view of the Black experience in America through the work of two artists from different generations. This exhibition explores the deep connections between the work of Andrews and Roberts in their shared use of collage and exploration of activism, racial injustice, family, and religious themes.

True Believers will be on view starting Thursday, October 6 in the Tobin Exhibition Galleries.

Educators get an in-depth look at the work of two pioneering artists, Benny Andrews and Deborah Roberts. Hear from the curators, tour the exhibition, and participate in two hands-on workshops led by teaching artists. Teachers receive three hours of continuing professional education credit. Registration required.

Educator Workshop: Spotlight Saturday

Spotlight invites students to make creative responses to one work of art in the McNay’s collection. Study and discuss this year’s selection, Vanessa German’s BLACK GIRL WITH SNAKES. Explore further with a hands-on workshop. Student responses are featured at the Spotlight Celebration in May. Registration required.
