MESSAGE FROM THE COUNTY CLERK

Hello Harris County! Fall is just around the corner and we are all looking forward to the rest of the year which is panning out to be very busy. In case you missed it, the Harris County Clerk’s Office (HCCO) was recognized at Commissioners Court on August 23rd with a Resolution from Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis for our award winning Back-to-School Birth Certificate events. Our office opened on two consecutive Saturdays to help families obtain their children’s birth certificates for back-to-school registration. This recognition inspires us to continue to strive for excellence.

HCCO leadership recently attended the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) Legislative Conference in Austin, and virtually. The conference was essential to prepare for the 88th Legislature, which convenes in January. It also offered important information about issues in county government, including behavioral health and courts, grant funds for counties, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and more. Other conferences attended include the Fifth Annual County and District Clerks’ Association of Texas (CDCAT) Fall Conference in College Station and the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) 2022 Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale.

This month celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and the Independence Days of several Latin-American countries. According to the Census Bureau, of the 332 million people in the U.S., more than 62 million are of Hispanic origin. I truly hope we all get a chance to celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

Sincerely,

Teneshia Hudspeth
