There is a serious HIV crisis in Houston and even more specifically among Blacks and Hispanics, and that’s why the National AIDS Memorial Quilt is making a stop in Houston May 3-7.
The National AIDS Memorial and Southern AIDS Coalition (SAC) introduces “Change the Pattern,” a national campaign to end HIV in Black and Hispanic communities across the South, to Houston, with exhibits of the National AIDS Memorial Quilt. The major exhibit of the Quilt will be part of the Art of Black Pride exhibit taking place at The MAG (The Modern Art Gallery). A second exhibit will be displayed during the Black Queer AF Music Festival. Both displays are to honor the lives and families impacted by HIV/AIDS and, to bring the community together through quilting workshops and educational forums.
More than 50 sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt honoring Black and Brown lives lost to AIDS are coming to Houston. Join us from May 3rd to 7th for five days of free events and programs.
