George welcomed, newly elected Texas General Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham to Fort Bend County on Wednesday.

Joined by county officials and local leaders from Bend and Harris County, Commissioner Buckingham listened to concerns surrounding current and future infrastructure and natural disaster mitigation projects in Fort Bend County.

"Our master drainage plan is of the utmost importance, especially as our county population continues an upward trajectory both in residential and commercial businesses growth." said County Judge KP George. "We are looking to provide erosion protection, especially along our major thoroughfares."

Additional discussion during the hour-long meeting held at the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management centered around transportation development following the exponential residential growth and increase in commuters in Fort Bend.

As the county focuses on promoting business growth and serving as an economic engine for the state, the hopes are to work with TX-DOT and the Houston Galveston Area Council to move forward with projects to improve the commuting capacity in the county.
