HCC Board of Trustees Elect 2023 Officers

The Houston Community College Board of Trustees elected officers in a meeting held Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
The governing board named Dr. Cynthia Lenton-Gary (District 7) board chair,Trustee Monica Richart (District 1) vice-chair, and Trustee Eva Loredo (District 8) secretary. Each were affirmed by acclamation.

Dr. Lenton-Gary said. “I pledge to continue working with my collegues, Chancellor, and administration in the best interest for our students, the college, and our communities."
Dr. Lenton-Gary is the first African American female to serve in city government for Missouri City and the first African American woman appointed to the Fort Bend Independent School District Board of Trustees. The longtime civic leader and volunteer worked as a research chemist and forensic scientist after earning her bachelor’s degree. She earned a master’s degree in sociology from Prairie View A&M University and a doctorate in Christian Counseling from Newburgh Theological Seminary.
Trustee Richart, an attorney, practiced locally and has served in various government roles, including director of compliance for Harris County Clerk’s Office. The Princeton graduate earned a Juris Doctorate from Columbia University’s Law School.
Trustee Loredo, who holds the honorary title as dean of the HCC governing board, is the longest serving trustee. She formerly served as principal at Gallegos Elementary School. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University and an M.A. from the University of Houston.
Other trustees include Dr. Adriana Tamez (District 3); Dr. Reagan Flowers (District 4); Robert Glaser (District 5); David Wilson (District 6); and Dr. Pretta VanDible Stallworth (District 9).
HCC Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado extended his congratulations to the elected board officers for 2023.
