In conjunction with Fort Bend County Libraries’ annual Summer Reading Challenge, the First Colony Branch Library will feature a special children’s theater performance of “Goldilocks & the 3 Plays” on Tuesday, July 25, beginning at 2:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land.

In this interactive play, recommended for families with children of all ages, the central character “Tiffany” pretends to be Goldilocks, who struggles to tell three stories – The Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, and The Three Billy Goats – with the reluctant assistance of three boys who resist, question, and eventually embody the Big Bad Wolf and The Troll in the stories.

In the final act, the audience members choose new characters for the actors, who must create a new story.

This production is performed by Young Audience of Houston teaching artists from iAct Houston, a theater company known for its family theater and arts programming that incorporates children from the audience into every performance.

This program is made possible by a grant from Young Audiences of Houston.

FBCL’s annual Summer Reading Challenge encourages reading among children from birth and up, as well as teens and adults. “All Together Now” is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. Readers of all ages can earn rewards based on the number of books they read or time they spend reading, and children can participate in a variety of fun and exciting programs at the libraries in July.

The Summer Reading Challenge and the performance are free and open to the public. For more information, see the Fort Bend County Libraries website www.fortbend.lib.tx.us
