John Whitmire announced today that the Houston Police Organization of Spanish Speaking Officers has endorsed him in his campaign for mayor of the City of Houston.

“The Houston Police Organization of Spanish Speaking Officers (OSSO) looks forward to Senator John Whitmire’s campaign for Mayor because he promises a fresh commitment to OSSO by inviting us into the HPD decision-making process. OSSO support will guarantee more opportunities for Hispanic/Mexican American members and their ideas, plus reinstatement of the OSSO leadership to the Hispanic Officer of the Year Committee (HOY). The City of Houston is our home, where we raise our families and make our livelihood. He is the only candidate that can make our city prosperous and safe again. OSSO believes Mayoral Candidate John Whitmire can lead and serve the 4th most populous city in America. And that’s why OSSO supports John Whitmire for Mayor of the City of Houston!!!”

Whitmire has represented Senate District 15 in the Texas Senate for the past 40 years, after serving ten years in the Texas House. He knows Houston is a great city, where its diverse population comes together to tackle tough issues. Whitmire wants to see the city reach its full potential by taking on the tough issues facing our city. Those issues include public safety, illegal dumping, homelessness, flooding and drainage, street and water system repair and neighborhood traffic safety. He also wants to boost the morale of police and firefighters and let them know that Houston has their backs.
