The Brothers of the Eta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Prairie View A&M University were the lead Award winners at the Prairie View Choice Award

The chapter took home the following awards, some for the second time in a row:

NPHC Fraternity of the Year (Repeat), Entrepreneur of the Year - Devin Faulkner, Nurse Bae Award and Senior of the Year - Caleb Leeper and Photographer of the Year - Javari Simmons. The Miss Black and Gold winners were also recognized as follows with PV Choice Awards: Sophomore of the Year - Chloe Tolbert, Miss Eta Gamma and Junior of the Year - Gabrielle Orji, Miss Epsilon Tau Lambda. Incidentally Chloe is the new Miss Junior and Gabrielle is the new President of the Student Government Association at the university. Hunter Walden is also the new Mr. Prairie View A&M University.

Marcus Spratley, outgoing chapter president recently won the College Brother of the Year Award for the Southwest Region of the fraternity and will compete for the National Title this July in Dallas at the fraternity's general convention.

In other news, in support of National Donate Life Month, the Eta Gamma Chapter teamed up with Be The Match organization of Houston to encourage and signed students up to join the Be The Match Registry for Sickle Cell, Leukemia, and other Cancers. Statistics show that every three minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. The drive netted about 40 people joining the registry.

Additionally the chapter took time to register students and encouraged them to vote early in the upcoming City of Prairie View and Waller County elections. The Miss Black and Gold, the Alpha Phi Alpha and the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are leading a March to the Poll at the Waller County Community Center on FM 1098 on Tuesday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m.
