In his first television interview following the announcement, the music icon sat down with "CBS Morning" on Monday to share his excitement and commitment to delivering an unforgettable performance.

"Thirty years ago, I made a commitment to offer my best, and here, 30 years later, that dedication is being rewarded with one of the most prestigious stages in the world," Usher remarked. "I'm truly humbled by this opportunity."

Usher didn't hold back in promising football fans and music enthusiasts alike "a night of celebration" that they won't soon forget. He also gave a glimpse into the challenge of keeping the Super Bowl performance a secret, admitting that the suspense was the toughest part.

"The hardest part is really the suspense and keeping it a surprise for that time," Usher explained. "My kids were like, 'Dad, you should play the Super Bowl.' I'm telling you there's a petition online,' and I'm going, 'You know what? You gotta speak these things into existence.'"

With the secret out, Usher now faces the exciting task of curating a showstopping performance, carefully selecting songs and potential collaborators.

"I definitely have a long list of peo- ple whom I've collaborated with and a long list of songs that mean so much to people," Usher revealed. "For every experience that I've had, there's a song. So, I'm trying to figure out how to entertain people, make

certain that they understand the legacy, enjoy the moment, and ensure that they have a show they'll never forget."

Usher also took a moment to pay homage to some of the legendary Super Bowl performers who have left indelible marks on the halftime stage, including Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and Prince.
