Celebrating 120 Years of Houston Public Library: A Historic Milestone
Francis Page Jr. | 2/6/2024, 3:20 p.m.
Houston Public Library (HPL) embarks on a momentous journey as it commemorates 120 years of enriching the cultural fabric of our city. Since its inception and public unveiling on March 2, 1904, HPL has remained steadfast in its commitment to providing unparalleled resources, services, and programs to the diverse communities it serves.
As we celebrate this significant milestone, HPL invites the community to join us in honoring our legacy and contributions over the past 120 years. From March through June 2024, a special series of programs and events will showcase our growth, highlight our impact on the community, and, most importantly, celebrate our valued patrons.
In commemoration of this historic occasion, HPL is proud to introduce a limited-edition commemorative card, a unique keepsake that pays homage to our rich history. With two distinct design options featuring exclusive artwork embodying the library's mission of "We Link People to the World," these cards serve as tangible symbols of our enduring commitment to connecting and empowering our community.
We extend a warm invitation to all, including current cardholders, to visit any Houston Public Library location starting March 2, 2024, to secure your exclusive MYLink Card. Additionally, patrons who participate in 120 special events during the celebratory period will have the opportunity to receive complimentary limited-edition merchandise, further commemorating this momentous occasion.
Join us as we embark on this celebratory journey, honoring 120 years of service, innovation, and community engagement. Together, we will continue to build upon the legacy of Houston Public Library, fostering a culture of lifelong learning, exploration, and connection for generations to come.
