The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) has ushered in the much-anticipated cookie season with a series of exhilarating Cookie Mega Drop events across the Houston area. Beginning on Jan. 31 and culminating with the first day of sales on Feb. 10, these mega drops epitomize the spirit of teamwork and excitement as scouts eagerly prepare to share their delectable treats with the community.
Experience the infectious energy and camaraderie as 18-wheelers brimming with scrumptious cookies arrive, troop vehicles are loaded, and preparations for February sales commence. Esteemed spokespersons including GSSJC Chief Executive Officer Mary Vitek, enthusiastic Girl Scout troop members, and dedicated volunteers will be available onsite for interviews, offering firsthand insights into the cookie season festivities.
When and Where:
- Saturday, Feb. 10 (7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
- Location: TBD stadium, Jersey Village
Cookie connoisseurs can anticipate the arrival of cookie booths in their neighborhoods on Feb. 16, showcasing an array of iconic flavors synonymous with Girl Scout tradition. From Adventurefuls® to Toast-Yay!®, Lemonades® to Thin Mints®, these beloved classics promise to delight taste buds and ignite fond memories.
"Launching into a new Girl Scout cookie season is akin to embarking on a journey of endless possibilities for our girls and their troops," remarked Mary Vitek, CEO of GSSJC. "Through the cookie program, girls not only acquire essential life skills but also cultivate confidence and lay the groundwork for future success."
While this year marks a modest price increase to $6 per box, troops stand to benefit from a 20 percent boost in proceeds compared to the previous year. These enhanced proceeds empower troops to fund enriching activities such as trips, camp outings, and other Girl Scouting endeavors.
Proceeds from Girl Scout cookie sales play a pivotal role in advancing various initiatives, including:
- Covering Program Costs: Supporting the production and logistics of the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
- Empowering Community Projects: Funding Take Action projects and facilitating girl-led initiatives.
- Investing in Girl Scout Programs: Providing resources for STEM, outdoor adventures, leadership training, and more.
- Local Impact: Directly benefiting local programs such as STEM initiatives and camp experiences.
With approximately 60 percent of proceeds directly supporting local initiatives, the Girl Scout Cookie Program embodies the spirit of community enrichment and empowerment.
The 2024 program runs through March 24, offering ample opportunities for cookie enthusiasts to indulge in their favorite treats while supporting a worthy cause. For more information about Girl Scout cookies and to find booths near you, visit GSSJC's official website.
