In a solid show of commitment during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office, guided by the vigilant District Clerk Beverley McGrew Walker, is taking significant strides against human trafficking, reinforcing the safety net for the community.
As a hub of passport application processing, with numbers exceeding those of the entire Houston regional passport offices, District Clerk Walker’s office, through the diligent efforts of William “Bill” Bobrick and the team, has identified the crucial need for vigilance and specialized education. Each passport agent is to receive targeted training aimed at recognizing and acting upon signs of potential human trafficking among those seeking passport services.
The training, meticulously designed and delivered by the Human Trafficking Division of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, underscores the critical importance of inter-agency collaboration. Sheriff Fagan has highlighted the unique challenges presented by the Houston area, and by extension, Fort Bend County, as a nexus point for human trafficking activities due to its geographical proximity to the US-Mexico border.
"By equipping our staff with the necessary tools and knowledge, we are fortifying our frontline defense in safeguarding not only Fort Bend County but also the broader Texas community from the perils of human trafficking," declared District Clerk Beverley McGrew Walker.
Proud of its synergistic partnership with the Sheriff's Office, the District Clerk’s Office is doubling down on its commitment to community welfare and security. This initiative is a testament to their dedication to the national campaign to elevate awareness and mobilize community action against human trafficking.
The Fort Bend County District Clerk’s Office is steadfast in its resolve to maintain its stance as a pillar of community leadership in the relentless fight against human trafficking.
